Building Caretaker
Position Overview
We’re looking for a proactive and hands-on Building Caretaker to ensure our buildings remain safe, functional, and well‑maintained. In this role, you’ll carry out daily plant checks, deliver both routine and reactive maintenance, support workplace improvements, and coordinate external contractors.
You’ll also take responsibility for essential documentation including Permits to Work, Risk Assessments, and RAMS, helping us maintain a safe and compliant environment for employees and visitors.
This is a practical, varied position ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, staying organised, and keeping operations running smoothly day-to-day.
Principal Responsibilities
Conduct daily building and plant inspections, recording findings and escalating issues where appropriate
Carry out general repair and maintenance tasks, including replacing fixtures, fittings, furniture, and signage
Complete light refurbishment works such as painting, decorating, and general building upkeep
Respond quickly to reported issues and accurately log actions in internal systems
Prepare and manage facilities documentation (Permits to Work, RAMS, contractor logs, etc.)
Oversee on‑site contractors, ensuring full compliance with health and safety procedures
Work closely with the Front of House team to plan and prioritise daily and weekly tasks
Support office moves, furniture installations, and equipment relocations
Monitor stock levels of consumables and coordinate replenishment
Assist with emergency response situations (e.g., leaks, power outages, access failures)
Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant workspace at all times
What We’re Looking For
Essential
Previous experience in facilities or workplace management or similar
Practical mindset with the ability to perform maintenance tasks and basic repair work using hand tools.
Strong communication skills to confidently engage with internal teams and external contractors
Experience in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail
Basic understanding of health and safety regulations
Strong problem solving-abilities and a positive, proactive approach to solutions.
Experience with MS Office software for administrative tasks
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team
Flexibility to occasionally work out of hours if needed
